Every single staff member at Western Health – either directly or indirectly, whether clinical staff, non-clinical staff or volunteer – makes a contribution every day to supporting the provision of Best Care and the best experience for our patients. Compliments are real examples of our staff providing Best Care. Through our ‘compliment of the week’ we acknowledge staff who successfully translate our Vision of delivering Best Care into day-to-day behaviours.
Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere. Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy. In recognition of Palliative Care Week, we would like to recognise Best Care provided by the Palliative Care Consultancy Service at Sunshine Hospital. The Palliative Care Consultancy Service have received words of appreciation from the family of a patient who recently passed away. The Palliative Care Consultancy Service cared for the patient on an acute ward until a bed became available in the Palliative Care Unit.
The words shared via social media included: My mother had just passed away at Sunshine Hospital. This is a brilliant facility matched by even better staff. The team treated mum with fantastic care and consideration during her last few weeks.
This compliment highlights the wonderful work all staff and especially our Palliative Care staff do every day to support patients in accessing supportive, personalised care.
