Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere. Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy. We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by staff working at Footscray Hospital 2 East. We share the words of appreciation from Josh, reflecting on the care he received.
To whom it may concern,
My name is Joshua, I was in your hospital over the last couple of days, culminating in having a procedure and being discharged last night. I was unfortunately suffering a fairly profound unrelated mental health episode during this time. I’ve no doubt elements of this at time made my care a bit more challenging. Your staff were such a credit to their professions and provided me with exceptional, professional and excellent medical care, despite the challenges in doing so. This is feedback I would very happily pass on to anyone I dealt with from your hospital.
I wanted pass on a particular thank you to the nurse in charge of the ward I moved to, Footscray Hospital 2 East. She came to speak to me when I was doing really poorly yesterday morning. I found it deeply confronting and embarrassing being in the state I was in, and for a moment her deeply compassionate and reassuring presence made me feel so heard and okay for the first time in many hours. She also helped with a few requests that were a huge help in deescalating a lot of the mental effects I was feeling. I cannot thank her enough.
Hunter, the psychologist I spoke to on the ward, was also fantastic, I’m exceedingly grateful to him, especially for contacting my own treating psychologist to touch base and pass on what had happened.
The people who treated me were all amazing, pleasant and capable. I’ve such a huge respect for their choice to engage in such necessary and compassionate work, while doing it to such a high standard.
