Every single staff member at Western Health – either directly or indirectly, whether clinical staff, non-clinical staff or volunteer – makes a contribution every day to supporting the provision of Best Care and the best experience for our patients. Compliments are real examples of our staff providing Best Care. Through our ‘compliment of the week’ we acknowledge staff who successfully translate our Vision of delivering Best Care into day-to-day behaviours.
Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere. Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy. We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by the team supporting paediatric COVID-19 vaccination (5-11 year olds) at the Sunshine Hospital Vaccination Hub. We share the words of appreciation from Nic, reflecting on the experience of her son Hugh when receiving his vaccination.
I just wanted to see if you would be able to pass on my sincere thanks to the team behind the children’s vaccination hub. It really is well done, and up there with the best – and as you know we have seen a few medical places around the world for Hugh.
Today was easy from start to finish. Parking, greeting, being taken through every step from check in to exit. It really helped my nerves but more importantly Hughie’s anxieties and fear for the vaccination. Having suffered lots of medical trauma in the past it is never easy getting him to have procedures but within a few minutes of arrival I could tell he was calmer and relaxing about it all.
The show bags were a great idea & big hit too!! What a wonderful theme of aussie animals too.
Honestly Kathy I can genuinely say this was the most professional medical situation we have ever come across in Australia, and up there with Johns Hopkins – Hugh’s US hospital, & completely the opposite to what I was expecting.
Thank you to them, to you all for everything you are all doing to keep us safe, healthy & calm.
Nic (& Hugh)
