COMPLIMENT OF THE WEEK – 19 November 2021

Every single staff member at Western Health – either directly or indirectly, whether clinical staff, non-clinical staff or volunteer - makes a contribution every day to supporting the provision of Best Care and the best experience for our patients. Compliments are real examples of our staff providing Best Care. Through our 'compliment of the week' we acknowledge staff who successfully translate our Vision of delivering Best Care into day-to-day behaviours.

Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere.  Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy.  We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by the Health Support Staff at Sunshine Hospital, and we share the words of appreciation from Seonee regarding the assistance her mother-in-law received.

Today my elderly mother-in-law, who is in the later stages of dementia, had an appointment with the specialist clinic.

I inquired with a marshal as to where I could park as the disability parks were unavailable and I could simply not just drop her off out the front and go find a park as she is a falls risk and she may wonder off and get lost.

This kind man went out of his way and found another member of his team to take over his position and helped my mother-in-law out of the car and sat with her so I could go park my car and stayed with her until I returned.

I could not thank this man enough, he went above and beyond today and showed so much compassion to an elderly lady it bought tears to my eyes.

Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but he ought to be commended for what he did today.

What a truly amazing and compassionate team you have.
