Compliment of the Week – 11 September 2020

Every single staff member at Western Health ā€“ either directly or indirectly, whether clinical staff, non-clinical staff or volunteer - makes a contribution every day to supporting the provision of Best Care and the best experience for our patients. Compliments are real examples of our staff providing Best Care. Through our 'compliment of the week' we acknowledge staff who successfully translate our Vision of delivering Best Care into day-to-day behaviours.

Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere.  Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy.  We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by Western Health staff working on Footscray Ward 2 East.  We share these words recently sent to us by Jim.

I recently spent a few days in Ward 2 East to recover from an acute about of diverticulitis. Can I just say the care received from your nursing staff was nothing short of magnificent.

One of the positives of the pandemic is the spotlight being shone on our nurses and other front line health care staff but media ads can only do so much; sometimes one just needs to be a patient in a hospital setting to truly understand how committed, compassionate, caring and professional these people are.

A particular shout out to Jack and Jasmund (Jas) who looked after me most of the time during their respective day and afternoon shifts. From what I understand both these young men are relatively new graduates and if they are representative of the quality entering the system then your profession remains in very good hands.

Iā€™d like to extend my appreciation through a donation that would directly assist the nursing staff on Ward 2 East.

In the meantime, please pass on my gratitude to your wonderful team.
