Compliment of the week – 10 July 2020

Every single staff member at Western Health – either directly or indirectly, whether clinical staff, non-clinical staff or volunteer - makes a contribution every day to supporting the provision of Best Care and the best experience for our patients. Compliments are real examples of our staff providing Best Care. Through our 'compliment of the week' we acknowledge staff who successfully translate our Vision of delivering Best Care into day-to-day behaviours.

Our vision of Best Care is to provide person-centred, co-ordinated, right and safe care for every patient, every time, everywhere.  Delivering Best Care within the complexity of our health system is not always easy.  We would like to recognise the provision of Best Care by three midwives working on Joan Kirner Level 7 & Birthing, Maria Ulyankina, Sloane Rotondi, and Amy Roultson.  We share this note of appreciation provided by a patient, Jessica, who recently gave birth at Joan Kirner.

Hi there,

I gave birth at Joan Kirner on the 18th May. I wanted to contact the hospital to let the maternity area know I believe it was Maria who was the Midwife while I gave birth. She was amazing, she made me feel like I was in safe hands.

I was losing a fair amount of blood and she wasn’t happy with the Doctors opinion. She sorted it all out. If it weren’t for her support, advice and experience I probably wouldn’t have faired so well afterwards.

Once I got into the Maternity wards all the midwifes and all other staff I came into contact with during my stay were so kind and caring. I could not have asked for a better service. In particular I’d like to mention Sloan and Amy, they were so professional and made me feel right at home and incredibly supported. They really helped my confidence.

A big thank you again,

Jessica
